Public events and happenings are very important in Imotski tradition. The oldest town happening is the Carnival with unique character of Bakho, not present in any other Croatian carnival tradition. During Holy Week, Imotski becomes the scenery for the Passion (Muka), play about last Christ’ hours. On the other hand, May is reserved for Mandolina Imota, international festival of mandolin. During summer, Imotska sila are taking place. The tradition started in 1970s, and now it gathers many domestic and regional artists.
